The role of the Eldercare Advocate:
The Art of Parentcare LLC informs and works with family and older adults navigating the journey of aging. We also provide training and coaching for families, churches, and community groups. Our goal is to develop strong, supportive networks nationwide to advocate, care for and empower Elders.
As an Art of Parentcare, LCC trained Eldercare Advocate, you will learn skills to assess the needs of Elders in their family and community, assess for common risks to health and wellness and advocate for care. This training will teach you to identify elder abuse, neglect or exploitation, and which agencies can provide help. While a common goal for Eldercare is to age in place, the goals we support are those created collaboratively with the Elders we serve. Our trainings and model of care is supported by the pillars of comfort, safety and dignity for navigating choices to and including end of life care.
While the co-generational family is the primary resource for aging adults, many families live at a distance from their loved ones. Eldercare Advocates assist in identifying the strengths of each generation and supportive tools to enrich the whole. In the absence of local family, Eldercare Advocates and organizations can develop care and safety networks for their aging members and Elders in their community.
Training and Certification Programs:
As an Art of Parentcare LLC trained Eldercare Advocate, you will learn to assist in resource finding, promoting safety and socialization for Elders in your circle. You will also learn skills to communicate with families who live at a distance from isolated or home bound Elders. Trained Eldercare Advocates become a reliable local partner to review and advocate for an Elder’s needs. This supports planning for change in condition or ability, thereby avoiding unnecessary crises for the person or their distant family. This helps out of area family realize a change in needs or condition is occurring and care needs increased. It also supports those who may be local to their parent but are not able to provide this kind of advocacy or support for them.
Eldercare Advocate Teacher Training Certificate Program
You may obtain Eldercare Advocate Teacher Training certification to create AoPC classes and support groups in your location. Nationwide, communities could benefit from dedicated Eldercare Advocates to address the needs of the aging.
We share information through blogs, books, webinars, podcasts; internet information sites; formal distance-learning curriculum; local workshops and conferences. Private consulting services are available for individuals, families, faith-based and community organizations. This results in being able to address needs, develop systems for support and outreach and connect with distant family.
